12:30—13:00 | registration/check-in |
13:00—14:15 |
We will provide a summary review of Globus features targeted at those new to Globus. We will demonstrate how to transfer and share data, install a Globus Connect Personal endpoint on your laptop, use the Globus Command Line Interface and automate data management tasks using the Globus web app. This introduction will provide important context for subsequent sessions. |
14:15—15:00 |
We will present various use cases that illustrate the power of Globus data sharing capabilities, and provide hands-on experience with the Globus file sharing API. |
15:00—15:15 | break |
15:15—16:30 |
We will review the Globus Connect Server v5 (GCSv5) architecture and deployment model, and describe the process for creating a Globus endpoint on your HPC cluster, lab server, or other multi-user storage system. You will experiment with installing Globus Connect Server, and configuring basic options on the endpoint. |
October 24, 2023 – for sysadmins and developers | |
9:00—9:30 |
We will introduce you to the CLI and have you experiment with simple CLI commands and a Jupyter notebook to automate file transfers and permissions management on shared datasets. |
9:30—11:00 |
We will describe how to build, deploy and trigger Globus Flows for automating data management at scale. Examples will include running flows, building flows, and integrating compute into flows. |
11:00—11:15 | break |
11:15—12:15 |
We will provide a brief introduction to the Globus platform-as-a-service for developers, with emphasis on understanding the security model; and will demonstrate how to access Globus services via APIs for integration into custom research applications. Attendees are invited to meet with Greg during Office Hours. |
